7th Grade Language Arts
The seventh grade language arts class is directed towards the study of grammar, writing, computer word processing, multimedia presentations, speech, and spelling. Students will be asked to participate in group work, projects, and presentations.
All students are expected to come to class prepared with paper, pencil, and a silent reading book. Students are expected to abide by the behavior and academic expectations as outlined in their student planner.
Warm-Up
A small, introductory activity will be written on the board as students enter the classroom each day. Students should promptly take out their notebooks and respond in writing to the prompt on the board. Most of the prompts will be based on material previously learned or what may be discussed in the current day’s lesson. Bell ringers will also serve as brainstorming or pre-writing activities. Responses will be checked occasionally for participation and completion.
Class Rules/Policies
Be Respectful
Students must treat their peers and teachers with respect. Disrespect is not permissible and depending on the severity of the offense, a detention may be given.
Be Responsible
Students need to be accountable for their own actions and responsibilities. Turning work in on time, coming to class prepared, and staying on task are expected from all students.
Be On Time
Students need to be inside the classroom and in their seat before the bell rings.

Students will be evaluated on effort, ability, and completion of all required assignments. The grading scale is consistent with the Prairieview-Ogden district:
